I deciphered last night, while making many new works throughout the wee hours, that I am an imagist-- not like the concept of the early 20th cent Anglo-American poetry movement that favored precision (I knew nothing about the movement before despite loving poetry)... I'm quite the opposite; I like, am attracted to, and moved by imperfections of all sorts.
So, in my work, what I do more than anything is to create images, manipulate images, borrow from images, give brand new images birth, take an image and add text to it to stir reactions that I myself often feel... devour classic images and make them my own. As mentioned above, always with an energy towards imperfection.
Yes, I am, in my own definition, an Imagist.
